Aspects of wave-particle complementarity in quantum delayed-choice experiments

چکیده
Abstract Quantum delayed-choice experiments are designed to probe the robustness of complementarity principle. In this proceeding, we revisit main ideas reported recently in Ref. [Commun. Phys. 5, 82 (2022)] concerning a setup (quantum-controlled reality experiment) that has same final visibility as quantum version Wheeler’s arrangement. Besides statistics, upon an operational criterion physical realism, authors claimed different state affairs for wave-and-particle behavior experiments. To end, put forward analysis by employing relative entropy coherence study how local wave and particle coherences when system is traveling inside interferometer change accordingly observed visibility.

A Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser
Complementarity, perhaps the most basic principle of quantum mechanics, distinguishes the world of quantum phenomena from the realm of classical physics. Quantum mechanically, one can never expect to measure both precise position and momentum of a quantum at the same time. It is prohibited. We say that the quantum observables “position” and “momentum” are “complementary” because the precise kno...
متن کاملA quantum delayed-choice experiment.
Quantum systems exhibit particle- or wavelike behavior depending on the experimental apparatus they are confronted by. This wave-particle duality is at the heart of quantum mechanics. Its paradoxical nature is best captured in the delayed-choice thought experiment, in which a photon is forced to choose a behavior before the observer decides what to measure. Here, we report on a quantum delayed-...
متن کاملDelayed Choice Experiments and the Bohm Approach
The delayed choice experiments of the type introduced by Wheeler and extended by Englert, Scully, Süssmann and Walther [ESSW], and others, have formed a rich area for investigating the puzzling behaviour of particles undergoing quantum interference. The surprise provided by the original delayed choice experiment, led Wheeler to the conclusion that “no phenomenon is a phenomenon until it is an o...

متن کاملConsistent Histories and Quantum Delayed Choice
John Wheeler devised a gedanken experiment in which a piece of apparatus can be altered just before the arrival of particle, and this “delayed choice” can, seemingly, alter the quantum state of the particle at a much earlier time, long before the choice is made. A slightly different gedanken experiment, which exhibits the same conceptual difficulty, is analyzed using the techniques of consisten...
